At United Tyres, we understand that when you have a problem with a tyre you want a quality service, expert advice, and the best value for money.

We also appreciate that choosing the right tyre can be confusing, from choosing the right size, to selecting a tyre and brand that will be fit for purpose from the extensive range available. To help you, our tyre experts have developed some general information to help you look after your tyres. Not all tyres are the same, and our expert team have travelled to China and visited the key tyre manufacturers to ensure that United Tyres only supplies the safest, quality-approved tyres for you and your family.

When you think about it, your tyres are the only point of contact your vehicle has with the road. That’s why it’s vitally important that you select the right tyre type for the vehicle you are driving and for the purpose it is being used. Good tyres are your guarantee for a safe and comfortable ride. Poor tyres can reduce the performance of your car, increase your stopping distance, and raise the risk of skidding. Furthermore, underinflated or worn tyres increase fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

We believe that motorists should get in to a habit of checking all four tyres every two weeks for correct tyre pressure, tread wear and general condition; and if you have one, don’t forget to check the spare tyre too. Underinflated tyres will give you less control, can increase the braking distance and will wear much faster. Overinflated tyres are just as dangerous: they reduce grip, braking is less stable and you have less control, which can lead to dangerous situations.

The tyre has an indicator in the tread pattern which will show when you have reached the legal limit of usage (1.6 mm). Check your tread depth regularly either with a dedicated tread gauge or using the built-in tread wear indicator on your tyres.

If you suspect your tyres have come to the end of their natural life, pop in to United Tyres where one of our experts well help you choose the right tyres for your vehicle, and get you safely back on the road.
